  • I really wanted to enjoy the third book in the Night Prince series, "Bound by Flames". The first book was great, and the second book was good. However, this third installment left me disappointed. Once again, the protagonist gets kidnapped, and she continues to be whiny and lacks self-confidence. It's frustrating to see her not mature and grow as a character. A significant portion of the book is dedicated to her being bound to a dungeon wall, naked, enduring gruesome torture and repeated sexual assaults. The explicit details of these assaults are excessive and continue for weeks. It's reminiscent of "50 Shades", except instead of a non-communicative husband, it involves a hot vampire who has no trouble expressing his emotions. I found myself putting the book aside several times, only managing to finish it by skipping ahead. It wasn't until around Chapter 30 that I felt compelled to read every word again. The ending does provide a twist that sets the stage for the fourth book, but I'm unsure if I'll bother continuing with the series.
  • I discovered so much about Vlad in this latest addition. We were able to witness a more tender aspect of his personality, if you can even call it that. I'm absolutely psyched to dive into the next installment!
  • Rating this book was a bit tricky for me as I was torn between giving it a 4.5 or a full 5 stars. Ultimately, I decided to go with the higher rating because of my affection for Vlad and Leila. Vlad, despite being a bit overbearing, learns the hard way that danger can strike even in the places you consider safe. Unfortunately, Leila also has to face some unpleasantness at the hands of the enemy, but thankfully nothing as severe as actual rape. She is rescued before things escalate too far. Throughout the story, Vlad and Leila continue to face challenges as their enemy tries to make their lives difficult, and at times even dangerous. However, their relationship remains strong, and they achieve something they have been striving for since the first book. The only downside is that another enemy, previously unknown, emerges and has a dangerous connection to Leila. Despite the hardships that Vlad and Leila endure, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Witnessing their journey and the way they confront obstacles together was truly rewarding, even though Leila had to fight to assert herself at times. The plot of the series advances significantly in this book, but there is still more to explore, which has me eagerly anticipating book #4! 😃
  • I've enjoyed listening to all of Jeanne Frost's books that Tavia Gilbert has narrated, and they've all been deserving of a 5-star rating. Personally, I don't think there's anyone better in this particular genre!
