Summary

Tory Bodeen grew up in a small, rundown house where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt - and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. But she had Hope - who lived in the big house, just a short skip away, and whose friendship allowed Tory to be something she wasn't allowed to be at home: a child. After young Hope's brutal murder, unsolved to this day, Tory's life began to fall apart. And now, as she returns to the tiny town of Progress, South Carolina, with plans to settle in and open a stylish home-design shop, she is determined to find a measure of peace and free herself from the haunting visions of that terrible night. As she forges a new bond with Cade Lavelle - Hope's older brother and the heir to the Lavelle fortune - she isn't sure whether the tragic loss they share will unite them or drive them apart. But she is willing to open her heart, just a little, and try. But living so close to unhappy memories will be more difficult and frightening than she ever expected. Because the killer of Hope is nearby as well.

  • I gotta admit, I really liked this book. Although I had to restart it a few times to get accustomed to the narrator. The way it was narrated felt plain and mostly uninteresting. But despite that, I managed to reach the end and was taken aback, which hardly ever occurs. So, kudos to the book itself, but unfortunately not to the narrator. Thanks for the enjoyable read.
  • After watching the movie adaptation of 'Carolina Moon' on Lifetime, I was eager to delve into the book and uncover the missing pieces. Needless to say, I'm delighted I did because although the movie was entertaining, it unfortunately omitted several significant parts. As an avid reader of Nora Roberts, I can confidently state that I thoroughly enjoyed 'Carolina Moon,' just like her other works. The protagonist, Tori, exhibits admirable courage as she confronts her past head-on, refusing to let it or the individuals associated with it dictate her life. It's worth noting that most of Nora Roberts' novels feature strong-willed female leads, and 'Carolina Moon' certainly upholds that tradition.
  • I absolutely adore this narrator! Unlike most narrators who attempt to do voices and end up being terrible at it, this one simply reads the book, and it's fantastic. The narrator truly is awesome!
  • The book is seriously let down by a monotonous narrator, which really takes away from the overall experience. However, the story itself is incredibly engaging and manages to keep you hooked from start to finish. It's a fantastic story worth checking out!
  • I had a good time reading the book, but honestly, the narrator was so dull... like, zero emotions at all! Anyways, Nora Roberts did her thing and was fantastic, as per usual.
  • Like always, Nora Roberts paints a beautiful picture of a small town in "Carolina Moon." The story itself is engaging and enjoyable. However, I have to say that the narration in this audiobook was absolutely terrible. In my opinion, it's the worst narrator I've ever encountered for this type of book. The whole experience was completely ruined by her performance. I should have just read the book myself.
  • The narrator of this audiobook lacks the ability to read with any variation in tone. There is a consistent lack of excitement, anger, or sadness in her delivery, making it difficult to fully engage with the story. Additionally, her improper pronunciation of words is distracting. The absence of distinct voices for different characters further adds to the confusion. It's unfortunate because the story itself is fantastic and filled with suspense. If I hadn't already used my credit, I would have opted for the physical book instead.
  • I absolutely adored the storyline of 'Carolina Moon', but I gotta say, the narration gave me a bit of a hard time. It felt like it was hurriedly delivered and the timing was way off. It was almost like the narrator completely missed the commas and periods. Now, the voices the narrator did were spot-on, but the overall reading had this strange timing to it.
  • I was on the verge of giving up on this audiobook because of the narration. The narrator just read the book without any variation in voices for different characters. It was challenging to distinguish who was speaking half the time.
  • I love Nora Roberts. I have also heard this reader before and I like her. I slowly figured out the ending but was still surprised at the end the way it was handled. I really loved that aspect of the story. I feel like Nora Roberts love of the supernatural, romance and fiction fit so well into this book. Each book seems to search some new area. There is a famiilarity to her books but still lots of surprises and new backdrops to the stories. I pick up her books and wonder where we are going this time. Ireland, Wyoming, Maryland-City or Country-Ghosts, vampires, or mindreading or Doctors, police or builders- she explores them all and mixes them so delightfully.
  • The reader for this book took away from a good story. I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read it myself. All the characters sounded the same. It was difficult to determine what character was speaking. For this reason, I would not recommend it.
  • The story was very good but I did not like the reader. She was boring and did not have emotion in her voice or voice change for the characters. It really took away from the book and allowed my mind to wander.
