  • I must say, I copied and pasted my previous evaluations of this series intentionally, as they've been quite enjoyable and not to be taken too seriously. However, this particular installment left me disappointed. The dialogue between the characters is rather formulaic, with lines like "you're so big" and "you're so wet" being thrown around repeatedly. And let's not forget the classic and oft-repeated descriptions of a "little clitoris" and a "huge shaft." It's all rather predictable. The sexual encounters in this series have become so monotonous that they now lack excitement, passion, and variety. My suggestion would be to take a long break between reading the books in this series before returning for your dose of titillation. And here's another copy and paste: The Usual Love Story It's your typical romance tale with a foreseeable plot and storyline. - A girl meets a boy. - There's an instant sexual attraction. - Both characters have personal obstacles to overcome. - The passion gradually intensifies. - Conflict arises. - Expect some hot and steamy sex scenes. - Love eventually blossoms. - Love conquers all. Swap "boy meets girl" with "vampire meets phantom," and voila! You have this story.
  • Wow, oh my, oh my! This series is absolutely addictive, I can't get enough of it. 'Dark Needs at Night's Edge' is just as fantastic as the previous books. I really enjoyed Neomi and Conrad's story; who doesn't love a ghost and a vampire with red eyes? And let's talk about the steamy scenes, they were mind-blowing! The writing, characters, and plot were all wonderful. I'm still in awe of how talented the narrator is. He does a flawless French accent for the female characters, it's absolutely incredible! I have to say, he might just be the best male narrator I've ever come across.
  • I just couldn't get into it... I ended up falling asleep, and honestly, I have no idea what the story was even about. It felt like listening to your tipsy aunt rambling endlessly at a Christmas gathering, going on and on about absolutely nothing. You try your best to tune her out, desperately trying to salvage whatever is left of your fading sanity.
  • I'm absolutely obsessed with this series. Books 2 and 3 are definitely my top picks so far. While 'Dark Needs at Night's Edge' didn't quite reach that level, it was still a fantastic read. I can't wait to dive into the rest of the series, and I'm grateful that there are already so many available on the service. The narrator is absolutely incredible and has such a seductive voice, he could turn a mediocre book into a masterpiece. Luckily, this series is already amazing. If you're a fan of these books, I highly recommend checking out authors like Sherrilyn Kenyon, JR Ward, Gena Showalter, Thea Harrison, and Larrisa Ione.
  • Dark Needs at Night’s Edge is the fifth book in Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series, which takes place in a world filled with various paranormal creatures such as vampires, demons, werewolves, and now ghosts. In this installment, we are introduced to Conrad, the younger brother of the protagonists from previous books. Conrad has become a feared assassin in the paranormal world due to his battle against blood lust, primarily driven by his intense hatred of vampires. He has made a vow to kill his brothers before taking his own life. Unaware of Conrad's deadly intentions towards their family, his brothers finally locate and kidnap him in hopes of helping him overcome his blood lust. They take him to an abandoned house previously owned by Neomi, a beautiful 1920s dancer who has been trapped there since her murder by her ex-fiancé. Neomi longs for companionship but as a ghost, she hasn't been seen or heard in the 80 years of her afterlife, until the arrival of the group of men. Neomi is filled with hope when it becomes evident that one of the men can see and communicate with her. To her surprise, he is not a man at all, but a vampire. Neomi finds herself falling in love with him, despite her initial shock at the existence of vampires. Together, Neomi and Conrad must overcome their troubled pasts and build trust if they are to achieve their happily ever after. Their journey is filled with passion, excitement, and heartbreak. I thoroughly enjoy this series, especially the appearances of past characters and the ever-present Valkyrie, Nix, who provides valuable insights. The narration by Robert Petkoff in the audiobook version is excellent, and I eagerly anticipate the release of the next installment, Dark Desires After Dusk, in audio format. If you're in the mood for a captivating and steamy paranormal romance, I highly recommend giving the Immortals After Dark series a try.
