Summary

In one of the best available books on the topic, Franklin explains the spiritual power of fasting and offers a deeper understanding of God's plan for fasting and the benefits available to those who participate. Those who seek God through fasting can expect tremendous rewards both for their personal lives and the church. They will see breakthroughs in many areas, such as healing, finances, bondages broken, and children set free. Jesus Himself fasted because He knew some supernatural realities could not be released in any other way. For that reason alone, Christians should make fasting a common practice.

  • The book fell short of my expectations, as I was hoping for more substance than what you would find in a YouTube video. Unfortunately, I didn't gain a deeper understanding of the diet and I still feel uninformed about the reasons for fasting longer than 24 hours. Additionally, the book failed to provide clear guidance on what foods are permissible during fasting. The most disappointing aspect is that despite emphasizing the uniqueness of fasting compared to regular diets, the book ended up sounding just like them.
  • The concepts surrounding the benefits of fasting are explained in a way that is simple to grasp and put into practice. It's also great to have insights from three different individuals.
  • This audiobook is filled with overly emotional and complaining content. The authors constantly talk about bursting into tears, which became quite tiresome to hear. Dr. Fung, I am disappointed in you for attaching your name as the lead author to this subpar material, clearly attempting to boost sales for an otherwise unappealing book. Perhaps it would be more fitting to rename it "Whiny Women's Life in the Fasting Lane," in order to prevent any more unsuspecting men from mistakenly purchasing it. I am so frustrated that it might drive me to engage in binge eating and then purging, but the resulting self-loathing would just make me want to cry even more.
  • I used to be hesitant about fasting due to some misconceptions, but this book really clears things up and provides guidance on how to approach it. I highly recommend it to anyone who feels stuck with their current plan. Keep in mind that this book isn't for those seeking an in-depth scientific analysis, but rather for individuals like us who are seeking a straightforward yet comprehensive explanation of the benefits and reasons behind fasting. Huge thanks to the author for writing this book!
  • Having already delved into the Diabetes code and the Obesity code, I can safely say that "Fasting" falls short in comparison. If you're already familiar with fasting or intermittent fasting, this audiobook won't offer much new for you. Personally, I found Eve Mayer to be quite bothersome and unhelpful. In my opinion, she seemed like a mix of a pushy used car salesman and an ineffective therapist. Unfortunately, she didn't provide me with much valuable information. Furthermore, a significant portion of this audiobook felt repetitive. I was hoping for more concrete details and evidence about fasting, but instead, I found mostly recycled content from other books or vague statements. Overall, this audiobook was a letdown for me. However, if you're curious about or contemplating fasting, it might be worth a shot. It does offer plenty of encouragement, testimonials, and beginner-friendly tips.
  • This audiobook is incredibly inspiring and the ideas presented are completely logical!. I'm truly grateful to have come across this. I'm definitely going to give fasting a try starting tomorrow!
  • I gotta say, I was kind of let down by this book. I was really looking forward to gaining some deep knowledge and research from Dr. Fung about fasting, but unfortunately, there wasn't much of his own input. Instead, the book is filled with tips that I, as a hardcore faster, didn't find all that helpful. However, I can see how this book would be a valuable resource for those who are just beginning their fasting journey.
  • I gotta say, this guide on fasting is the bomb when it comes to shedding those pounds. Trust me, I've tried all sorts of methods, but fasting is the only one that actually did the trick. And get this, I'm a 52-year-old truck driver, so you can imagine how skeptical I was about losing weight. But man, this guide proved me wrong. Absolutely life-changing!
  • I've been doing intermittent fasting for quite a while now, and that's why I can confidently say it's just one method out of many that can be effective. While feeling guilty or ashamed is not helpful, neither is completely avoiding personal accountability (seems like too much unnecessary effort). I was really anticipating more scientific information and less enthusiastic promotion. If it truly works, it should speak for itself and not rely on excessive cheerleading.
