  • The review of 'Fire Touched: Mercy Thompson Series, Book 9' starts off with a lot of humor, which not only keeps the reader entertained but also provides a recap of what happened in the previous book. The story then progresses with an intense action scene that puts the characters in a high-stakes situation, keeping the reader engaged. The author skillfully introduces a new mystery that becomes the core plot of the book, without overwhelming the reader with repetitive themes from previous installments in the series. According to the reviewer, Patricia Briggs has done an exceptional job with pacing and setting up the story, which rivals her previous works like 'Iron Kissed' and 'River Marked' as their favorite. However, there are a few issues pointed out in the review. Firstly, Mercy never shifts throughout the entire book, which is unusual considering it's a significant aspect of her character. The reviewer feels that this potential was not fully utilized by the author. Secondly, the reviewer expected Hoel (Fire dog guy) to have a more prominent role in the story. While there is some interaction between him and key characters, it falls short of the reviewer's expectations, making the book feel shorter than it actually is. Lastly, the reviewer believes that at this point in the series, a major character should meet their demise in order to add emotional weight to the risks and challenges faced by Mercy and her gang. They feel that the constant use of deus ex machina to revive characters diminishes the overall emotional credibility of the story. Despite these concerns, the reviewer loved the book and praised L.K's outstanding narration, which has become a trademark in this series.
  • Patricia has once again delivered an amazing book. I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment. Although I did feel the absence of Stefan, the story centered around the fae, which was quite intriguing.
  • I loved all the previous books in this series, but this one felt too similar to the others. It didn't excite me, and I found it dull. I'll still pick up the next book though, fingers crossed it's an improvement.
