  • Instead of purchasing this book, I recommend buying "Washington's Spies" by Alexander Rose. I was not expecting to read a fictionalized version of a true story, and it became clear quickly that the author is not skilled in writing or history. It seems that he lacks confidence in the strength of the story and the readers' abilities to appreciate it on its own. Rather than letting the story speak for itself, he adds strange embellishments in an attempt to make it more exciting, which is unnecessary since the story is already captivating. These issues could be overcome if the author were a better narrator. He places emphasis in odd places within sentences and manages to sound condescending to the audience throughout the audiobook.
  • I really enjoyed reading this history book, it was awesome! It provided me with a better understanding of the popular TV show TURN on AMC. I vaguely remember hearing about some of these events when I was a kid growing up in New Jersey. Kilmeade did an excellent job with this one.
  • I didn't realize how much was going on during the revolutionary war, and this book really opened my eyes to my own ignorance. It seems like New York doesn't get much attention in the history books for this time period, since most of the action happened in other places. However, after reading this account, it's clear that New York played a crucial role in helping the United States win the war. This book has sparked my curiosity and I'm excited to learn more about this period from a fresh perspective.
  • This book tells the tale of six spies, who emerged after Nathan Hale was executed in NYC for spying on the British during the Revolutionary War. It provides extensive insight into the reasons behind their pursuit, their relevance to the war's narrative, and displays meticulous research and attention to detail. Kilmeade and Yaeger skillfully narrate the story, with Kilmeade delivering an excellent reading. I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone with an interest in American history.
