  • I've been eagerly anticipating this one for quite a while! It's got me almost as hyped as I am for episode 7. The story is fantastic and the narration is top-notch. Definitely deserves a solid five-star rating.
  • Heir to the Jedi is a pretty enjoyable adventure book that doesn't offer much except for the fact that it's a Star Wars story, and more importantly, it's considered part of the official canon. Set after the events of A New Hope, the novel follows Luke Skywalker from a first person perspective as he carries out various missions for the rebel alliance, leading up to an attempted rescue of a Givin who is under Empire control. Throughout the story, we also get to see familiar faces like R2-D2, Leia, Ackbar, Han, and even Ben, but the main focus is on Luke. Since the story is told from his perspective, we get a glimpse into his thoughts and feelings about the force and what happened after he destroyed the Death Star. The pacing of the action and the overall plot is quite good and keeps you entertained. The writing itself isn't mind-blowing, but it works well for this type of tie-in book and delivers what you would expect from a title like this. However, beneath the occasional juvenile humor and cheesy sound effects (more on that later), there are some darker and more intense moments that deviate from the generally lighthearted tone of the story. The voice acting in the audiobook is excellent, and Marc Thompson does a great job of capturing the essence of Luke's character. However, it's worth mentioning that there are a lot of sound effects and background music included in the audio, such as running ships, jungle sounds, lightsabers, and robot noises, which might not appeal to everyone. Overall, Heir to the Jedi is a fun read for what it is, but it doesn't offer anything particularly groundbreaking.
