  • It's a really heartbreaking period in history. It's amazing how this book reminds us of the extraordinary courage displayed by those who sacrificed their lives and acted heroically to save us all.
  • The author's constant repetition of the plot hampers an otherwise decent storyline. As readers, we don't need to be reminded of basic storylines, so there's no need for the book to be filled with unnecessary repetition. However, it's worth noting that this installment of the Maisie Dobbs series is a significant improvement compared to the previous adventure.
  • At first, Maisie went through a phase where she embraced a darker side and used unconventional methods to unravel her mysteries. However, in this particular book, there is a noticeable absence of such methods and by the conclusion, it appears that the familiar Maisie we all know and love has returned! Hooray!
  • After her time in Spain and dealing with the loss of her husband, Maisie Dobbs is ready to move forward with her life. However, her plans take a turn when she receives a request from her country's authorities. They ask her to embark on a mission to Nazi Germany in 1938 to rescue a crucial engineer who is believed to be imprisoned in Dachau. On top of that, she is approached by a family she has every reason to distance herself from, as they want her to locate and bring back their daughter, who may have played a role in her husband's fatal plane crash. In this gripping story, Maisie is forced to confront her own fears as she navigates the perilous streets of Munich. Fans of Maisie Dobbs will be pleased to dive into another captivating adventure. The question remains: will there be more thrilling tales to come?
  • I absolutely adored this series in the beginning, but somewhere along the way it lost its magic. Winspear seemed to struggle with Maisie's romantic life, resulting in a forced love story between her and James. Sadly, the genuine emotions for Maisie were lacking. To make matters worse, through a synopsis, we learn that after a considerable time gap, Maisie finally accepted James's love (after prolonging their relationship), only to have him tragically pass away alongside their unborn child. Understandably, Maisie is left shattered and barely functioning due to her overwhelming grief. The retrospect of her deep love for James feels a bit difficult to swallow. Personally, I stopped reading this book by chapter 8. It becomes frustrating when Maisie, who is supposed to be deep undercover in a dangerous situation, decides to take a day off before a crucial meeting to serve a private client whom she knows. It's perplexing that she exposes herself, still in disguise, to multiple people, including those associated with the group she is trying to deceive. At this point, I've reached my limit and won't continue with the series.
  • I absolutely loved 'Journey to Munich: A Maisie Dobbs Novel'. It was without a doubt the most captivating Maisie book I have read so far. It had me hooked from beginning to end. I'm eagerly anticipating Maisie's next thrilling adventure.
  • If you're a fan of Maisie Dobbs, you're gonna dig this book. It's got a nice mix of excitement and a satisfying conclusion. The historical aspect gives you a cool glimpse into what could have happened. The narration is on point.
  • This book teaches valuable lessons about appreciating our freedom, acting with integrity, and staying loyal. Certain sections were quite challenging to read, but it's unfortunate that this accurately portrays the historical context. The atrocities and unimaginable cruelty that many people, regardless of age, had to endure were a harsh reality. It's essential to remember and acknowledge these events, preventing their recurrence through a collective refusal to forget or deny their existence.
