Summary

When the newly promoted captain of the NYPSD and his wife return a day early from their vacation, they are looking forward to spending time with their bright and vivacious sixteen-year-old daughter, who stayed behind. Not even their worst nightmares could prepare them for the crime scene that awaits them instead. Deena has been brutally murdered in her bedroom, and her body shows signs of trauma that horrify even the toughest of cops, including our own Lieutenant Eve Dallas, who is specifically requested by the captain to investigate. When the evidence starts to pile up, Dallas and her team think they are about to arrest their perpetrator; little do they know that someone has gone to great lengths to tease and taunt them by using a variety of identities. Overconfidence can lead to careless mistakes. But for Dallas, one mistake might be all she needs to serve justice.

  • I really enjoyed reading 'Kindred in Death: In Death, Book 29' as it was a captivating and thrilling story. It had all the action and excitement that I anticipate from a J.D. Robb novel. It was a treat to reconnect with the fantastic ensemble of characters. Susan Ericksen did an outstanding job narrating the audiobook.
  • I'm a big fan of this series. This installment had a rather dark tone. The murderer was extremely violent and the victims were completely innocent. The bond between Eve and Roark is something I truly cherish. The side characters are fantastic as well. After reading 29 books, they feel like a part of my own family! I also have to give credit to the narrator, she consistently delivers a stellar performance.
  • The writing style feels repetitive and the narration is quite annoying, just as mentioned in the previous review. However, I can't help but return to my collection to find out the conclusion. I'm eager to discover the culprit! Despite my curiosity, I wouldn't recommend spending your money on this particular audiobook.
  • If you're a fan of JD Robb's Eve Dallas and her crew, as well as Susan Ericksen's awesome narration skills, then you'll be stoked to know they're back in action. The voices of your favorite characters are on point, and the story itself is a blast, complete with some unexpected twists. Fans of the series will be over the moon with this book.
  • I really enjoy this series. Even though I'm not particularly into Nora Roberts or romance novels in general, there's something about the banter between the characters in this J.D. Robb series that has captivated me. Unfortunately, in this particular novel, that kind of dynamic is not as prevalent as I would have liked. There are some instances of repetitiveness in the way clues are discovered, which makes me question the editor's role. Overall, the book feels a bit lackluster. It's an okay read for $10, but I'm relieved I didn't pay the full price.
