  • I don't understand why the Author took so long to release this as an audiobook, but I'm happy that they eventually did! Now, if only we could find a more suitable narrator. Maybe someone without a British accent? Perhaps an American?
  • I checked out this book around 15 years back and just recently felt like revisiting it and continuing with the entire series. Even after all this time, I could recall quite a bit from my first read, which just goes to show how memorable and engaging the story is. It's the kind of book that stays with you and leaves you craving for more, making you eager to find out what happens next.
  • I absolutely adored this book when I first read it in the early 90's. It quickly became one of my favorites, and I would often pull it off the shelf, give it a quick dust-off, and dive back into its pages every five to seven years. The characters in this story hold a special place in my heart, and after all this time, I feel like I know them just as well as the author. So, when I heard that the book was being re-released as an audiobook, I was both thrilled and a bit apprehensive. However, my worries were completely unfounded. The narrator of this audiobook did an outstanding job of capturing the unique personalities and attitudes of each character. This is no small feat, especially considering how many times I've read the book and already had their voices ingrained in my mind. They truly deserve a round of applause for their stellar performance. I'm eagerly looking forward to starting book two, "Magician Master," and I can only hope that the rest of the series will also be converted into audiobooks. This book definitely deserves a solid five-star rating.
  • If you haven't heard of Raymond Feist, this book is his debut and the beginning of an incredibly epic fantasy adventure. This series is on par with renowned series like Wheel of Time and The Belgariad. However, it's much longer, spanning a vast world with numerous main characters and captivating storylines. Feist spent over 30 years crafting this 31-book series, which has become a true classic in the fantasy genre. His storytelling is exceptional, and his characters are truly memorable. It's a real treat to finally have these books available on the service, and I highly recommend them to any fans of classic fantasy. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Nicholas Guy Smith is the perfect narrator for this literary masterpiece, and his performance does justice to this classic tale. He truly excels in bringing the story to life.
  • I've gone through the book multiple times, but when I downsized my living space and had to get rid of most of my old physical copies, I opted for the service edition. Initially, I was a bit skeptical about the narrator, but it didn't take me much time to appreciate his performance. This is an incredible and expansive story with a multitude of characters and subplots. Without having read it beforehand, it might have been challenging, but I absolutely adored it. Both the author and the narrator did an excellent job. It's definitely worth using a credit for. Now, I'm moving on to the next book in the series.
  • I've been a fan of this tale for a long time and I'm aware that Raymond Feist hails from America, so I never imagined any of the characters would possess a British accent or utter common words in such an absurd manner. The story remains captivating, but the narrator's voice genuinely bothered me.
  • I really enjoyed the worldbuilding aspects of the story and found the conflict to be intriguing, even though it did rely on some cliches. However, it did take a while for the book to get to the more exciting parts. It became clear that this was just the beginning of the first novel, which made sense as I continued listening. If you're looking for a classic fantasy novel with fascinating worldbuilding elements, then this book is right up your alley.
