Summary

From bestselling author Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquleaure. In the traditional folktale of 'Sleeping Beauty,' the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince reawakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation. His reward for ending the hundred years of enchantment is Beauty's complete and total enslavement to him...as Anne Rice explores the world of erotic yearning and fantasy in a classic that becomes, with her skillful pen, a compelling experience.

  • I just couldn't get into this one. I mean, I devoured all the 50 Shades books, but this one takes things to a whole new level with humiliation and degradation, like, right off the bat.
  • To fully appreciate this book, you need to see it as a different world's version of reality. It's like imagining how things could be different in medieval times. Rather than feeling aroused, I was more fascinated by the exploration of how one's sexual desires can lead to complete submission.
  • The author should have clearly stated that these books contain instances of rape and that they may not be suitable for everyone. I've come across some incredibly steamy/kidnapping/BDSM/erotic/hardcore novels, but this book takes it to a whole new level. I enjoy getting immersed in the storylines, but I can't stand how these characters are repeatedly subjected to humiliation in such a horrific manner. Instead of being defensive, the writer should have provided a straightforward warning about the extremely dark and messed up content. However, I must admit that despite this, the story remains intriguing and captivating.
