  • I couldn't get through this audiobook, man. The concept seemed dope, but the narrator's voice was like a whiny and angry teenager. I could only hang in for 15 minutes before I tapped out.
  • I checked out a bunch of reviews before picking up this audiobook, and they all mentioned the explicit sexual content and violence. Personally, I'm drawn to books that push boundaries like that. While the story did have some graphic elements and a creepy killer, it focused too heavily on the romantic aspect for my taste. The main character came across as unreliable and should have been fired due to her unpredictable behavior. If you're bothered by self-absorbed and flaky female cops, then this story might not be your cup of tea. It's a bit cliché for the lead detective to be so obsessed and needy with every case she handles, and it seems to be a recurring theme in many police procedurals. The protagonist does have an intriguing backstory, but there were just too many characters to keep track of. The romance took up a significant portion of the story, with the backstory filling in the rest. Unfortunately, the actual serial killer was the most captivating aspect, but the author didn't devote enough time to developing that part of the plot. If it were possible, I'd give this audiobook 3.5 stars.
