  • I find it absolutely fascinating that 'The Girl in the Tower: A Novel' takes the concept of a medieval fantasy and transports it to the captivating setting of Russia, deviating from the typical Western European backdrop. The incorporation of mythology and the exploration of the diverse interests and conflicts among different social classes truly captivated me. The plot was meticulously crafted and the pacing was quite impressive. However, I must admit that, apart from the dynamic characters Vasia and the Winter King Morosco, the development of the secondary characters left much to be desired, making them appear rather one-dimensional. Consequently, this aspect caused me to rate it four stars. Additionally, the dry narration further impacted my overall opinion, resulting in another star deduction. In summary, while the concept itself is refreshing and innovative, it lacks a certain level of development.
  • I absolutely loved diving into the world of Russian history and fairytales in 'The Girl in the Tower: A Novel'. This audiobook had me completely captivated from start to finish. Kathleen Gati's narration is absolutely incredible, I would gladly listen to her read anything! Her performance truly elevates this already wonderful book and adds a touch of magic to the experience.
  • I absolutely adored it. The part that really stood out to me was at the start when Vasya was pretending to be a boy while riding her magnificent stallion. It was such a thrilling and enjoyable experience. Moreover, I was completely captivated by the bond between Vasya and Morosko. It added such depth to the story. The unexpected twist was also a delightful surprise, keeping me on the edge of my seat. And let's not forget Dimitri, who exceeded all expectations. He was truly amazing. Overall, this book was fantastic.
  • This book was such an incredible adventure! The way the author seamlessly incorporated elements of folklore into a captivating historical fiction narrative was absolutely wonderful. I was utterly engrossed and couldn't get enough of it!
  • I've had this book on my radar for quite some time. I've gone through the synopsis and reviews, even listened to the sample, but it never quite hooked me like some other books. It was always my backup choice, in case I couldn't find anything else. That day finally arrived, and I decided to give it a listen. To my surprise, I was completely engrossed in the incredible story. I devoured the first book and immediately moved on to the second, then the third. Currently, I'm enjoying the series all over again. The moment it finished, I started from the beginning! I've already completed the first book and just dove into the second one once more! The narration is absolutely fantastic. I adore how the book seamlessly blends history and storytelling into one captivating world. Trust me, you won't regret diving into this trilogy!
  • I really, really enjoyed this book! It's like a fairytale mixed with an exciting adventure, all wrapped up in a story about family, love, and magic. It gives you a glimpse into medieval Russia and the strong beliefs and superstitions of its people. You should definitely check out the first book, "The Bear & the Nightingale," and the second one, "The Girl in the Tower." I had so much fun reading them!
  • I enjoyed it, although it didn't quite capture my heart. The blending of numerous fairy tales into one narrative felt a bit overwhelming. Nevertheless, the storyteller's performance and the overarching plot were engaging. I can't help but wonder if the major revelation could have been handled differently...
  • I'm really into the whole vibe of the book - the backdrop, the enchanting stories, and the way the characters are brought to life. Can't wait to see how it all wraps up in the last installment of the series.
