  • I really liked this book a lot. The characters were nicely portrayed and their perspectives made me reflect. I would suggest this book to anyone who appreciates skillfully written historical fiction.
  • I totally adored the narrative and the characters, empathized with everyone involved. As a dude, I wasn't sure if this would be my thing initially, but after diving into a few chapters, I was totally hooked and had a blast reading the book. I highly recommend it, especially if you're into the Titanic like me, which is why I grabbed the audio book in the first place.
  • I had a great time getting to know the characters in the book, I genuinely cared about each one of them and was eager to find out how their experiences unfolded. Despite the tragic subject matter, this story managed to be quite entertaining.
  • I absolutely adored this narrative. It had me shedding tears, bursting into laughter, and experiencing all the emotions along the way. The author truly nailed it with this one.
  • The characters in this novel are truly wonderful and the writing is absolutely beautiful. The vivid descriptions of the Irish landscape and homes transport you right into the heart of the story, allowing you to visualize everything firsthand.
  • I gotta say... it was just another tale about yet another survivor of the Titanic. The ending was pretty much what I expected, so no surprises there. It didn't really bring anything fresh or original to the table. It felt like just another retelling of the same old Titanic story, with a different wrapping.
  • I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book, but I was definitely hoping it wouldn't be another retelling like that movie with Jack and Rose (which I absolutely hated). Let me tell you, this book went above and beyond my expectations! The author did an incredible job of bringing each character to life and capturing their thoughts and emotions. It felt like I was right there with them, experiencing everything they were. That's some serious talent right there... Maggie, especially as a young girl, leaving her family and the man she loved to board the Titanic - her character will be etched in my memory for a very long time (I have a feeling this story and all its well-developed characters will stay with me for a while). I couldn't believe this was the author's first novel! Her words, particularly when Maggie woke up in the hospital and started remembering, brought tears to my eyes (which isn't an easy feat). The vivid imagery she painted with her words, as well as the anticipation of families waiting for news about their loved ones on the Titanic, really touched me. As someone raised by my grandmother, I especially loved the close bond between Maggie and her great-granddaughter, Grace. Now, you might think this book sounds depressing, but trust me, it's not. There are plenty of moments of happiness woven throughout. From the very first page, this novel hooked me and wouldn't let go (I listened to it non-stop and finished it in a single day). I'm actually listening to it again right away, and I've already bought another book by this incredibly talented author. I must also mention the outstanding voice actors who brought the characters to life! The woman who voiced Maggie has the most beautiful voice with an enchanting Irish accent. I could listen to her all day long! It makes me wish I had a lovely Irish accent instead of my own plain American speech. Hats off to everyone involved in creating this novel. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this one!
  • I searched high and low for a novel centered around the Titanic, and 'The Girl Who Came Home: A Novel of the Titanic' was exactly what I was looking for. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and now I'm even more excited to watch the movie adaptation.
