  • I'm absolutely blown away that I never got around to reading this before.. After finishing 11-22-63, I was having a tough time finding another captivating read and this book more than delivered on that front, exceeding my expectations tenfold.
  • I personally believe that The Green Mile is Stephen King's finest novel. The narrative is captivating, with a hint of Stephen King's signature supernatural twist, yet it remains entirely believable. If you've already watched the movie adaptation, you'll find that the book stays true to the film, with minimal differences if any at all. Even if you're familiar with the movie, I highly recommend giving the audiobook a listen, solely for the pleasure of hearing Fran Muller's narration. Let me tell you, he's hands down the best narrator to have ever graced the industry. His performance feels more like immersive acting rather than mere reading, as he breathes life into each character. He effortlessly transitions between various accents and convincingly portrays both male and female voices. Listening to him, you'll feel as if you're right there in the moment, witnessing each character firsthand, rather than simply listening to a book being read aloud. I actively seek out any audiobook narrated by Fran Muller. The Green Mile, alongside The Prince of Tides, are my personal top two favorites. If you haven't had the pleasure of listening to Muller's narration before, give this book a chance, and prepare to become hooked on his remarkable talent.
  • Forget about King's horror tales and settle in with this book for a truly captivating, hilarious, and enjoyable experience that you'll be fortunate to have. The story is narrated by a prison guard who oversees the "green mile," which refers to the death row section of a southern state prison. Alongside this, there is a parallel narrative that delves into the guard's later life. While it may not be as thrilling as the scenes set on death row, which are absolutely mesmerizing, the book also goes by another title, "The Unfortunate Death of Eduard Delacroix," and I won't spoil the plot by revealing the specifics of this prisoner's execution. Trust me when I say that there's a villain you'll despise wholeheartedly. There's also a touch of magic in the story, and coming from someone who's typically practical and skeptical, Mr. King manages to pull it off flawlessly, showcasing his incredible talent. Another central character in the book is a massive man who spends an extended period of time on death row, and you can't help but develop a deep affection for him. The guard and his colleagues embark on an extraordinary journey, defying the prison rules, and each moment of this particular adventure is worth the entire price of the book. I can't sing enough praises about Frank Muller. His narrations are so exceptional that they may appear otherworldly. Frank possesses an incredible talent that towers above anyone else's. Sadly, he passed away several years ago, but his remarkable performances continue to live on. He never falters, never has a false moment. If you're a fan of movies, his skill and authenticity can be likened to those of Diane Lane and Cate Blanchett, two actors whom we've been fortunate enough to observe and listen to for many years. I can only dream of the day when they lend their voices to audiobooks. In the meantime, I find myself repeatedly listening to Frank's work. My wife recently enjoyed "Polar Star" so much that she listened to it twice, and now she's also captivated by Frank. For those of you who might find the idea of a death row story too heavy, fear not. The Green Mile is anything but. The artistry present in this book will transport you to another world.
