Summary

Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.

  • I am a fan of the Hunger Games movies, so I had high hopes for the books. Sadly, the narrator lacks any trace of emotion, which caused me to lose interest within a short span of time. It's disappointing to think that I wasted my first free book credit on this audiobook, to be completely honest.
  • I absolutely adored this audiobook rendition of 'The Hunger Games'! It reignited my passion for the story and had me hooked all over again. The captivating nature of the book was brilliantly enhanced by the spot-on narration. Tatiana's performance was truly remarkable, leaving me in awe of her talent. I sincerely hope that she will be the one to narrate the other books in the series too. This experience served as a powerful reminder of why I fell in love with this series in the first place.
  • This book is absolutely incredible, but I have to say, the narrator is quite challenging to listen to. The way she portrays the voices of Peeta and Haymitch can be quite grating. Especially during the moments when Katniss is facing difficulties in the games, the narrator's attempt to convey her struggles comes across as strained and uncomfortable. I really regret not purchasing a different version of this audiobook. Spending 10 hours listening to a girl attempting to do male voices and sounding breathy and strained is just not my cup of tea. Ugh.
