A stirringly evocative, thought-provoking, and often jaw-dropping account, The Operator ranges across SEAL Team Operator Robert O'Neill's awe-inspiring four-hundred-mission career, which included his involvement in attempts to rescue "Lone Survivor" Marcus Luttrell and abducted-by-Somali-pirates Captain Richard Phillips and which culminated in those famous three shots that dispatched the world's most wanted terrorist, Osama bin Laden.

  • This book was absolutely awful. The author's narcissism is off the charts and it's not even remotely amusing. Plus, it's hard to believe his claim of being responsible for killing Bin Laden.
  • I really enjoyed reading this book! Robert O'Neill's writing and narration style is both entertaining and funny, but also has emotional moments. Even though it's a collection of his thrilling adventures, he never comes across as arrogant or boastful. I appreciate how he acknowledges and respects the other services and units he served with, and his humility throughout his career. It's also quite amusing that the only thing that gets "blacked out" in the book is the word/number six when referring to seal team six. Furthermore, I appreciate that he doesn't let his experiences haunt him. Many soldiers from our generation don't suffer from PTSD after taking down bad guys. We knew they deserved it, accepted the risks, and approached everything with a sense of humor. I'm glad he doesn't jump on the PTSD bandwagon. Out of all the memoirs and books based on real events in the war on terrorism that I've read so far, this one has been the most enjoyable.
  • I gotta say, I really respect the operator and the special forces, especially the navy seals. But man, it was such a letdown to hear Robert O'Neil's attitude towards all the people in support roles. It was just disheartening and made me sick. Like, come on man, those support roles, whether it's finance, food, gym, contracting, they're crucial to every service member. He couldn't do his job without them, you know?
  • This audiobook provides incredible insight and captivating storytelling. O'Neill's passion as a narrator shines through, and it's evident that he holds a profound respect for his fellow teammates.
  • The fact that the author himself narrated the audiobook adds an exquisite touch. This allows us to not only appreciate his service, but also immerse ourselves in his captivating story. It's truly a privilege to hear the emotions firsthand from the man who experienced this extraordinary life. Thank you for sharing your story.
  • This book is absolutely amazing! It tells a captivating story that keeps you engaged from start to finish. I couldn't put it down and finished it in just a few days. The lives these individuals lead are incredibly intense, and this story serves as proof of that.
