  • Normally, I'm a fan of Mary Higgins Clark's novels and look forward to reading them. Unfortunately, "I've Got You Under My Skin" didn't live up to my expectations. The plot felt forced, lacking depth, and overall, it was simply a silly storyline. To be honest, I regretted having kept this book in my "to read" pile for so long. If it hadn't been sitting there for ages, I would have seriously considered asking for a refund, given the time I wasted listening to it, hoping that somehow the story would redeem itself, along with the performance of the narrator.
  • I just finished reading "I've Got You Under My Skin" by Mary Higgins Clark, and it was my introduction to her writing. Now I understand why she has such a dedicated following - her books are known for their gripping plot twists and thrilling chapters. While this particular book was decent, I have to admit that I was able to predict the ending pretty early on. Additionally, the characters didn't have enough depth for me to become emotionally invested in their journey. Moreover, I felt that the ending was too rushed. On a positive note, the narration was superbly executed, bringing the story to life.
  • The narrator was a total snooze fest, delivering the story in a monotone manner. With numerous characters in the storyline, it became a real struggle to keep track of who's who and what they were up to. Definitely not the author's finest work. All in all, it was a lackluster experience that made it incredibly difficult to stay engaged and sit through the entire book. Honestly, I'm finding it challenging to even finish it.
  • I really enjoyed the fact that there were numerous potential suspects in the story. Until the very end, I was completely clueless about who the actual culprit would be. It could have been any of the characters, which made it even more thrilling. The author did a fantastic job in managing multiple characters and creating multiple mysteries throughout the book.
  • I usually love Clark's books. This one could have been just as enjoyable with fewer pages. It had so many twists and turns that it was difficult to keep up with all of them. I dozed off for three hours during the narration and didn't feel like I had missed anything important. I've read and really enjoyed other works by Mary Higgins Clark. I just found myself getting fatigued with the excessive level of detail in this particular book, although maybe that was intentional.
  • I've never come across a book quite like 'I've Got You Under My Skin' before. It presents a storyline that seems quite surface-level, with characters whose motives feel far from genuine.
  • There are numerous characters to keep up with, but the author does a fantastic job of summarizing them so that I don't lose track. This is my initial experience with this particular author, and I must say, I truly liked it! I accidentally began with the second book in the series, but now that I'm familiar with the author's writing style, I'm eager to complete it. The narrator was also excellent. Thanks for injecting some excitement into my otherwise dull life! Once again, fantastic job!
  • I absolutely adored this book. As a fan of mystery novels and avid followers of Mary Higgins Clark and James Patterson, I was thrilled to dive into this one. I always enjoy trying to unravel the mystery before it is unveiled, and this story had me constantly guessing the identity of the culprit. It was truly engrossing, and I found myself eager to uncover the secrets and dramas of all the characters. This is definitely a must-read, and I'm eagerly anticipating delving into the rest of Mary Higgins Clark's suspenseful series. I must also commend the narrator of the audiobook, who did an exceptional job. Her voice was anything but monotonous, and she succeeded in keeping me fully engaged throughout the entire book.
  • Mary Higgins Clark is clearly a talented mystery writer and storyteller. The structure of the book, the progression of events, the consistent characterization, and the level of detail in the plot are all superbly done. This is a classic "whodunit" mystery that is clean, free of profanity and explicit content. The driving force behind my continued reading was the desire to uncover who was responsible for Betsy's murder. I deducted one star due to a lack of suspense and action. The action primarily consists of a recap of the events on the night Betsy was killed. Additionally, there is an introduction of a side plot at the beginning, leaving me curious about how the two plots would eventually converge. The narration was solid and fitting for the storyline. Jan Maxwell smoothly transitions between the various voices within this extensive cast of characters. I removed another star for the characterization. I yearned for at least one suspect whom I could connect with and root for. The characters in this book are flat and lack depth, making it difficult for me to empathize with their struggles. Consequently, I found myself indifferent towards which character was the culprit, and my primary motivation was simply finding out the "who" and "why." The author effectively establishes a reason for every character, including the daughter and husband, to be content with the antagonist's demise. With numerous characters to keep track of, all potentially filling the role of antagonist, each having their own storyline and a plausible motive to eliminate Betsy, Mary Higgins Clark skillfully provides recaps throughout the plot, preventing any confusion regarding the characters or their connection to the victim. The ending left me unimpressed, lacking any surprises or twists. The two storylines that I anticipated would eventually intersect never did. I'm pleased that I chose a book from this renowned author, but I have serious doubts about selecting another Mary Higgins Clark novel in the future.
