  • The story itself is likely well-crafted, but unfortunately, the distracting elements of the audiobook hindered my enjoyment. Michael Chabon's writing style, characterized by long and winding sentences with subtle meaning, often lost its impact due to the narration by Newbern. Emphasis and pauses seemed to be placed arbitrarily, disregarding the punctuation that should guide them. Additionally, the mispronunciation of Hebrew and Yiddish words further disconnected the narration from the story, making it difficult to believe that the storyteller was Jewish. This aspect ultimately detracted from the overall experience and diminished the authenticity of the narrative.
  • This book is amazing! The story is captivating, the characters are well-developed, and it keeps you hooked from start to finish. As a fan of Chabon's previous work, like "The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay," I can confidently say that "Moonglow" is just as enthralling and intriguing. My only minor complaint is that the narrator struggled with pronouncing some basic Yiddish words like "yarzheit" and "Kiddush."
