  • The narration by Ms. Rose may not have the widest vocal range, but she delivers a commendable performance. Trust me, this is a delightful tale centered around Isolde Ophelia Goodnight and Ransom, the Duke of Rothbury. The characters are convincingly portrayed and well-developed, while the plot captivates throughout. Izzy, the plain and financially struggling daughter of the late author Sir James Goodnight, meets the brooding Duke who carries the weight of a past duel and a recent heartbreak. Their relationship undergoes a transformation as they navigate their unique personalities and challenging circumstances. It's a multi-layered and gratifying journey. The popularity of Izzy's father's stories, known as The Goodnight Tales, stretches across England and even inspires enthusiastic role-playing. The Moranglians, a group from the story, reminded me of attending Renaissance festivals, and Ransom's reaction mirrors those who view such activities as eccentric (I can relate; I'm a bit of a geek myself). I thoroughly enjoyed the blend of humor and dramatic turns in the narrative. Is it worth your time and credit? Absolutely.
  • This audiobook, 'Romancing the Duke: Castles Ever After,' was an absolute delight to listen to. It's a heartwarming story that may follow a somewhat predictable plot, but still manages to captivate and entertain. The protagonist, Ransom, is appropriately reserved considering his difficult upbringing and unfortunate mishap. Evie, the heroine, is spirited and strong-willed without crossing into the territory of being overly demanding. The intimate scenes are tastefully written and seamlessly enhance the story. However, what truly impressed me were the vivid descriptions of the castle and the amusing antics of the Moranglians. The entire narrative has a charming and humorous quality that would translate well onto the stage as a delightful comedy of manners. Even the villains are skillfully handled, swiftly and creatively resolving their role without compromising the overall sweetness of the story. Furthermore, the writing itself is top-notch. Having previously read contemporary books by Tessa Dare, I wasn't sure what to expect from her in the historical romance genre. However, she proves her versatility as a talented writer who can excel in any genre she chooses. She managed to hold my interest throughout the audiobook, something that doesn't always happen with lighter historical romances. Carmen Rose's narration was exceptional. Her ability to convincingly portray male voices and accents was spot on. I will definitely be on the lookout for more audiobooks narrated by her. In conclusion, I highly recommend 'Romancing the Duke: Castles Ever After' audiobook for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
  • I found this book to be quite foolish. The characters lacked enthusiasm, to say the least. As a result, the dialogue throughout the story was lackluster and foolish. I continued listening, hoping that it would improve, but unfortunately, it never did. Carmen Rose was a new narrator for me, and I couldn't determine if a different narrator would have made the book more enjoyable. Her voice lacked energy, which this book desperately needed. I'm sorry, but I cannot recommend it.
  • I've read another novel by Tessa Dare before and I gotta say, I really dig her storylines and the humor she puts into her characters. I think Dare's dialogue is on point, but man, the delivery in this audiobook just didn't live up to it. I feel like I would've enjoyed the book way more if I had read it instead, so I could really feel the snappy comebacks with the right tone.
  • This audiobook was a big disappointment! From the instant attraction between the main characters to their unlikeable personalities, I couldn't connect with anyone. The dialogue was poorly written and the plot left much to be desired. I regretted investing my time in this listen.
  • The story in 'Romancing the Duke: Castles Ever After' was quite captivating and stood out from the typical historical romance. I won't reveal any surprises, though. Both the main characters, the hero and the heroine, were resilient, intelligent, and had a great sense of humor. The secondary characters also added depth to the story. There was plenty of engaging dialogue and some passionately intense intimate moments. I must say, the narrator did an outstanding job. She skillfully distinguished between the male and female characters, making it easy to discern who was speaking. I would definitely be interested in listening to more audiobooks narrated by Carmen Rose.
  • I absolutely adored this book, seriously! It's a total romance. Ranson found himself caught in Izzy's trap without even realizing it. Their love story is portrayed so beautifully, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. The storyline was super easy to follow, and the narration was absolutely fantastic!
  • Dare is honestly one of my top authors. The way she crafts her stories is just so clever and her characters are genuinely likable and fully fleshed out. I couldn't help but burst into laughter at certain moments, while also groaning in sympathy during others. She has this incredible talent of completely immersing you in the story, making it almost impossible to put the book down. There's no overwhelming drama or intense plotting to stress the readers out, but instead, it's a delightful read filled with tons of humor and relatable humanity. I highly recommend checking out more of her books because they are totally worth it!
  • I absolutely adore Tessa Dare! She has quickly become one of my top authors. What sets her apart is the fact that her characters are refreshingly imperfect, breaking away from the typical cookie-cutter mold. However, when it comes to the story line, she hits the bullseye every time! And let me tell you, Carmen Rose narrating the audiobook was simply fantastic. She effortlessly nailed all the different accents, including the Scottish valet Duncan. I seriously can't praise her enough! If you haven't already, make sure you have plans to listen to the rest of the series because it's an absolute must-not-miss.
  • This book is a real emotional rollercoaster. It's been a while since I've been moved to tears by the ending of a story, but the conflicts, the beauty, the joy, and the love in this one really hit me. I absolutely loved it and will definitely be giving it another listen very soon. Carmen Rose did an outstanding job as the narrator, truly bringing the characters to life just as I think Tessa Dawn envisioned. Both the writer and the narrator deserve a round of applause for their excellent work!
