Maddie Faraday's life would be perfect- if it weren't for her cheating husband, her suspicious daughter, her gossipy mother, her secretive best friend, her nosy neighbors, and that guy she lost her virginity to twenty years ago... In TELL ME LIES, Jennifer Crusie dishes up a funny, sexy, suspenseful novel about small-town secrets, big-time betrayals and the redemptive power of love, laughter and chocolate brownies. "A humorous mixture of romance, mystery, and mayhem. A winner!" - Susan Elizabeth Phillips, New York Times bestselling author of Breathing Room "Lovers of Susan Isaacs' mysteries, take heart... There's a new author on the block!" - Woman's Own "A jaunty tale of love and murder...the plot springs some genuine surprises...there's enough intrigue and scandal here to make a small city stay home." - Publishers Weekly "Smart, sexy and howlingly funny. Having a bad day? Tell Me Lies is just the tonic to make you laugh again." - Tess Gerritsen, New York Times bestselling author of The Apprentice

  • I really enjoyed this story, it had engaging characters and a deep psychological aspect that kept me on my toes. The narration was top-notch, with excellent use of different voices. It definitely had me hooked throughout.
  • Oh my god, that ending was mind-blowing!!!! I don't get why characters in books never choose to be honest with their partners instead of risking everything and digging themselves into deeper trouble. But I guess if they did, we wouldn't have captivating stories like this one. The twists in this book were really well-crafted, and while I saw a few of them coming, the majority caught me completely off guard. This audiobook had me on the edge of my seat, but I have to admit, it could be uncomfortable for those who have personal experiences with suicide. A little heads-up about the numerous mentions of it would be great. However, the ending was definitely the highlight for me. It took me by surprise and then some! Absolutely fantastic stuff.
  • I've read Crazy for You and Bet Me, and looked forward to my first Jennifer Cruise audiobook. Those were great fun. However, I was a bit disappointed. The main character comes across as not too swift at times, and a little slow to get the point. (Hmm, I'm repeating myself there.) She seems to make too much of every little thing, while the obvious eludes her, even while the boyfriend is pointing it out. And no matter how shocked I was, I don't think I'd leave the contents of a safe deposit box just sitting there - clearly, she needed to stop the plans in place. Perhaps this is just not the sort of woman I'd be friends with. It was read well enough, but the whole story could have been better.
  • I love to listen to Jennifer Crusie books because they always make me laugh. This one is no exception. I also loved that within this funny romance was a serious mystery. Her husband is successful but his greed for money turned him into a liar and a thief. Her mother is the town gossip. The man she truly loved from years ago is back in town to help her and her daughter through the turmoil that has developed in the small town. I'd also like to reccomend 'Fast Women' by Jennifer Crusie, except that I don't see it offered here. Once you start listening or reading stories by Crusie you can't get enough.
