  • I can't stress enough how amazing the performances were in this audiobook! Many narrators, who are also actors, have impressive skills, but there's something truly special about having an actor read their own work. I absolutely loved that, especially the interviews towards the end. Additionally, Jenna Fischer comes across as one of those celebrities who would be incredibly nice if you met her in person. This audiobook only confirmed that for me. It feels like she genuinely wants to assist others, especially aspiring actors. Even though I'm not an aspiring actor myself, I still thoroughly enjoyed listening to this.
  • Ever since I first heard about 'The Actor's Life: A Survival Guide' on the INSIDE ACTING PODCAST years ago, I've been eager to give it a listen. And let me tell you, I wish I hadn't waited so long. As an actor who has been living in LA for nearly seven years, I found Jenna Fischer's book to be incredibly relatable, capturing the struggles and hustles one faces in this city and in this industry. Fischer dives deep into the gritty realities of navigating the financial hardships that come with living in LA. She offers valuable insights into finding support jobs that allow you to pursue your passion while still making ends meet. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of continuing to work on your craft during those periods when you're not booking gigs - from selecting the right headshots to the significance of taking acting classes, and so much more. While Fischer's experiences in LA may have been different from mine, I can wholeheartedly say that I saw so much of myself in her story. This book is undoubtedly one of the best resources for anyone interested in the acting business, regardless of whether you're considering a career in acting and want a glimpse into what it entails, or if you're a seasoned actor seeking a fresh perspective. I loved it so much that I even purchased a hard copy of the book, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to dive into it again.
  • I really enjoyed this book, especially because it was released shortly after I attended a seminar by Jenna in New York. I've been in the acting industry for more than two decades, but I always find it beneficial to revisit the fundamentals when I come across an intriguing book. I highly recommend it to any actor out there; listening to the stories will make you feel like you're not alone in your experiences. So, kick back and enjoy!
  • I bought this book because I'm a huge fan of The Office and Jenna's character. Although my dream of becoming a successful actor has faded, I still perform in local productions, and this book offered some valuable reminders for me. One piece of advice that really struck a chord with me (and it took me years to realize) is that artists should have additional creative outlets that don't solely focus on their main artistic pursuit. This book provides great insights into the world of film and TV. In fact, I was so impressed that I bought a copy for my friend who just started studying theater in college, even before finishing the audiobook myself. I genuinely believe it's a worthwhile read for any actor.
  • As a diehard fan of The Office, I absolutely felt compelled to give this book a read. To my surprise, I found myself thoroughly enjoying it even more than I initially anticipated. At first, I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into, as it reads more like a practical guide rather than a personal memoir of Jenna's life. However, I found this refreshing and appreciated the valuable insights she shared about her journey as an actor. It's not solely about Jenna's experiences, but rather offers a wealth of information on the actor's life. What I particularly loved about this book is that it equips aspiring actors like myself with a solid foundation and understanding of the industry. After reading it, I feel much more prepared to pursue my acting dreams, armed with newfound knowledge and insight. Jenna's intention to serve as a mentor for aspiring actors truly shines through, as this book can effectively serve as a practical guide to the world of acting. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her narrate the book and relished all the insider information she divulged about casting calls, auditions, and other juicy details. Overall, I genuinely loved it!
  • If you're an aspiring actor going through a tough time or simply seeking guidance and reassurance about pursuing your dreams, this audiobook is a must-listen. It's a reminder to stay determined and never lose hope.
