Summary

From bestselling author Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquleaure. In the traditional folktale of 'Sleeping Beauty,' the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince reawakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation. His reward for ending the hundred years of enchantment is Beauty's complete and total enslavement to him…as Anne Rice explores the world of erotic yearning and fantasy in a classic that becomes, with her skillful pen, a compelling experience.

  • I bought this book with the intention of indulging in some erotic literature, but instead, I was bombarded with crude content that I couldn't stomach. I couldn't even bring myself to finish the book, and I definitely won't be suggesting it to anyone else.
  • I had high hopes for this audiobook, expecting it to be somewhat thrilling. As I continued listening, I held onto the hope that it would improve, only to find myself disappointed. Perhaps, if you have an interest in S&M, this might be more appealing to you.
  • I found 'The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty: The First of the Classic Erotic Trilogy of Sleeping Beauty' to be quite intriguing, although personally, I felt that it was a bit too explicit for my taste. However, overall, I would rate it around 3.5 stars, as it still managed to captivate my attention.
  • Why the hell are these books abridged? Seriously, I pulled up the Series page, saw 'UNABRIDGED' written in big letters, and excitedly bought the trio I already own in print version. But guess what? They are all ABRIDGED! What a letdown! I was hoping for an improved experience, but these audiobooks turned out to be pretty pathetic. The printed books are hands down way better. I'm so freaking disappointed.
  • This audiobook is intense, brutal, and centers around degrading and taboo sexual acts. While it may appeal to those who have a taste for such narratives, it did not resonate with me personally. I could only manage to listen for the initial 15 minutes before deciding it wasn't my cup of tea. Therefore, I advise either embracing it or approaching with caution.
  • I personally found this narrative to be repetitive, degrading, and unsettling. Despite my persistence in listening to the entire book, I was left disappointed as a coherent plot failed to materialize. It became evident that this story caters to a niche audience, but unfortunately, I do not belong to that category. The author portrays pain and humiliation as gratifying and appealing, which made me feel uneasy throughout my listening experience. Moreover, this book lacked the distinctive essence I typically associate with Anne Rice's work. Overall, this was not a pleasant read for me.
  • This book is all about spanking, paddling, and smacking. That's basically what it's all about. It's packed with badly written depictions of both straight and gay encounters. Definitely not sexy. Not even remotely erotic. And the story itself is far from good. In fact, it's quite repulsive.
