Summary

The Final Empire: Mistborn Book 1 Audiobook by Brandon Sanderson is a fantasy novel published in 2006. It is the first novel in the popular Mistborn trilogy. The world has been reduced to a wasteland of grey ashfall and thickly misted nights. The Lord Ruler came to power and has ever since ruled with his unbelievable powers. The Lord Ruler is immortal and possesses incredible powers.

Ever since he came to rules, he has wiped out all the religions and has established himself as the God. People under his rule have to worship him and only him. He has also divided the society into two classes- the nobles and the skaa. The Skaa are the slaves who are barbarically tortured by the Lord Ruler. They do not have any will or hope to fight against these atrocities.

Kelsier is a skaa thief. He also discovers that he is a Mistborn with special powers. He escapes the dangerous prison camp of the Lord Ruler. He returns to Luthade, the capital city of the Final Empire with a view to assemble together a crew and carry out an impossible heist-to overthrow the Final Empire and the Lord Ruler. He also comes across Vin a street urchin- who is recruited by Kelsier to be a part of his team, after he realizes that she is also a Mistborn. Kelsier plans to destabilize the city by starting a house war between the nobility and then attacking with a skaa army.
