  • I was really intrigued by this book because I'm a big fan of delving into people's personal histories and backstories. Magda's journey to becoming the first confessor was absolutely captivating. There was something about her story that was incredibly empowering and I couldn't help but fall in love with her character. I was wholeheartedly rooting for her to take on the role of the first confessor, as it truly felt like it was meant for her and her alone. I also found great pleasure in learning about the intricate details behind the creation of the sword of truth. Merritt's meticulousness and dedication to his craft really drew me in. The relationship between Magda and Baraccus was so heartwarming and touching. It was truly saddening to discover why their relationship had to end the way it did. Overall, I absolutely adored this book. I loved how everything tied in with Richard's story and how it added even more depth to my already immense interest in this series. At first, I was a bit thrown off by the shift from a male narrator to a female one, as I had been accustomed to hearing the series' books in a male voice. However, it didn't take long for me to adjust and realize that having a woman narrate the story was not only fitting but necessary for this incredible tale.
  • I can't get enough of this book! It's just as enjoyable as the others in the series. Christina did an amazing job narrating the story and giving the characters depth. My only minor gripe is that the male characters all sound a bit alike, but it's refreshing to hear a woman's voice for the female characters.
  • This book might just be the best one out of the entire series! I highly recommend reading this one FIRST! I wish I had read it before starting the Sword of Truth series because it provides so many answers to questions. From start to finish, this book was fantastic, and Christina Traister did an excellent job narrating. I really enjoy it when you can tell who is speaking just by the performer's voice. I definitely suggest this book to anyone who enjoys epic fantasy. However, you need to read (or listen to) the entire series.
  • This book is absolutely captivating from beginning to end. It's especially exciting if you're already familiar with the Richard and Kahlan story and have been hearing about the characters for a while. It's truly amazing to finally "meet" them in such a direct way. I think next time I'll start from this book and read through the entire series. The performance was decent, although the character voices were a bit difficult to keep up with. Nonetheless, it's definitely a worthwhile book.
  • This book was a great addition to the sword of truth series. It blended seamlessly with the other novels, delving into the captivating backstory of the great war. While reading all these books, I couldn't help but wish there were both a male and female narrator for the different parts. It can be quite comical when a man tries to voice a young female character like Rachel, just as it is when a woman voices an old man. However, please note that both narrators did an amazing job telling the story. Personally, I believe having both genders would enhance the overall experience when listening. Nonetheless, the writing is exceptional and Christina Traister's narration is incredible. I want to extend my gratitude to both Terry Goodkind and Christina Traister for providing such captivating entertainment.
  • Having gone through the main series and being familiar with these characters, having the opportunity to delve into their story was absolutely amazing. It's a bummer that I've run out of books to explore in this captivating world.
