The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye: A Lisbeth Salander Novel, Continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series, Book 5 Audiobook by David Lagercrantz is the fifth book in the Millennium series. Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist are the central characters of the novel. The novel is written by David Langercrantz, his second of the series after the untimely death of Stieg Larson in 2004.

The plot opens with Lisbeth Salander serving two months of prison sentence for saving the life on an autistic boy through illegal means in the previous novel. When she enters the prison she realizes that the prison has a dark world inside with power imbalances and equations. She learns that the notorious criminal Benito controls the entire prison. She takes it upon herself to restore the power imbalance within the prison and to protect the weak and helpless inmates from the tortures of Benito.

She is visited weekly by her friend and ally Mikael Blomkvist who updates her on the happenings of the outside world. Her old guardian Holer Palmgren visits her in the prison. He is seriously ill and under medical aid. He visits Salander with some disturbing news about her past. She starts digging deeper into her past only to be shortly confronted with her deepest fears.

Review

The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye: A Lisbeth Salander Novel, Continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series, Book 5 Audiobook by David Lagercrantz received mostly positive response from the critics and the readers. The author has again successfully depicted the various shades of the character of Lisbeth Salander. He takes the readers into her past and the story of her origin.

The author also reveals to the readers for the first time in the series as to why Salander has the dragon tattoo. One drawback of the novel is that the central characters of Salander and Blomkvist are missing in action for most parts. The plot is compact and tight and the readers will enjoy the world of Salander and Blomkvist. This is a recommended read for the fans of the Millennium series.
