  • This audiobook was fantastic! It really got me contemplating about the what-ifs. What if history had taken a different turn? What if every individual who migrated here from another country, continent, like Europe, had to either embrace the indigenous lifestyle or face violent consequences like being killed or forced to live in cramped and undesirable areas known as trailer parks, struggling to make ends meet below the poverty line? It's a concept that would make an incredibly captivating movie!
  • I was really pleased when I listened to The Lakota Way because it provided me with some truly enlightening knowledge about the various Lakota tribes. I thought I had a good understanding of the Nation, but this book definitely humbled me. I want to express my gratitude to Mr. Marshall for his exceptional work. I highly advise everyone to read or listen to The Lakota Way.
  • While listening to "The Lakota Way: Stories and Lessons for Living," I found myself thoroughly engrossed in the narratives. It gave me a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of tuning into This American Life. It dawned on me that I was actually experiencing an authentic American life. Although some of the stories had a predictable element, they were still incredibly enjoyable to listen to. The author, who also served as the narrator, demonstrated exceptional command over the English language. Surprisingly, his proficiency in his second language surpassed that of many native speakers. In conclusion, I would wholeheartedly endorse this book to others.
  • I've tried to get into this book multiple times, but I just can't seem to finish it, and honestly, I doubt I ever will. The narrator's voice has this mesmerizing effect on me every single time, and before I know it, I'm out like a light, deep in dreamland!

  • I really loved this book, it was absolutely stunning and incredibly captivating. The stories reminded me of the profound parables found in the Bible, but with a unique Lakota perspective and philosophy. They weren't overly preachy; instead, they conveyed straightforward truths and valuable life lessons through the lens of Native American storytelling. The narration was exceptional and truly enhanced the overall experience. It often felt as if I were gathered around a campfire, listening to Grandfather share ancient tales that had been passed down through generations.

It's easily one of the most exquisite books I've ever encountered. The author narrates it himself, and you can truly feel his emotions shining through. Being of Lakota descent myself, I deeply appreciate how Joseph M. Marshall authentically captures the essence of the Lakota way of life. His captivating stories are adorned with vivid and detailed descriptions. It's the book that both Native and non-Native individuals have been eagerly anticipating. It's truly remarkable, indescribable even, yet at the same time, it's a beautifully straightforward collection of heartfelt stories. I absolutely adore this book!

  • This book has many lessons. Presented in a captivating way that keeps the audience hooked. From war stories, Giants, Giant Snakes, and the crazy deer woman. The Lakota way can increase the humanity in all of us.
  • Beautiful! I listened to this book once before and still remembered the stories! The way the book is organized is pleasant. The author delves into the past and pulls out ancient legends then brings forth more recent anecdotes. It is sad but ultimately uplifting and I really hope more people pick this up. The fact that the author narrates it is fantastic. His tone is soft and very soothing but not to the point where you would fall asleep. On the contrary you are left alert and aching for more stories. Excellent all around!
