Alifair Burke has crafted a captivating narrative in 'The Wife: A Novel of Psychological Suspense'. The story unfolds in a skillful manner and is skillfully narrated by a proficient voice actor. This book is definitely worth investing your time in, as it will keep you hooked till the very last page. It's a real page-turner, no doubt about it.
I've started listening to audiobooks as a means to escape from the constant barrage of politics that surrounds us. Much to my disappointment, the author occasionally inserts unnecessary jabs, such as portraying Trump as a "serial rapist." If I wanted a book with political commentary, I would have chosen one accordingly. Sadly, these instances occur too often and ultimately deterred me from finishing the book. The actual story was decent, but the mystery relied heavily on the characters' naivety and felt artificial. None of it managed to hold my interest enough to reach the end.
I managed to endure listening to approximately 7 and a half hours out of the total 8 hours of 'The Wife: A Novel of Psychological Suspense', but I couldn't gather the motivation to complete it entirely. The protagonist consistently makes unintelligent choices throughout the narrative, which became extremely difficult for me to tolerate.
