Summary

A Harper has always lived at Harper House, the centuries-old mansion just outside of Memphis. And for as long as anyone alive remembers, the ghostly Harper Bride has walked the halls, singing lullabies at night... At forty-five, Rosalind Harper is a woman whose experiences have made her strong enough to bend without breaking - and weather any storm. A widow with three grown sons, she survived a disastrous second marriage, and built her In the Garden nursery from the ground up. Through the years, In the Garden has become more than just a thriving business - it is a symbol of hope and independence to Roz, and to the two women she shares it with. Newlywed Stella and new mother Hayley are the sisters of her heart, and together, the three of them are the future of In the Garden. But now that future is under attack, and Roz knows they can't fight this battle alone. Hired to investigate Roz's Harper ancestors, Dr. Mitchell Carnegie finds himself just as intrigued with Roz herself. And as they begin to unravel the puzzle of the Harper Bride's identity, Roz is shocked to find herself falling for the fascinating genealogist. Now it is a desperate race to discover the truth before the unpredictable apparition lashes out at the one woman who can help her rest in peace...

  • The plot of "Black Rose" was captivating and full of suspense. As someone who typically doesn't read unless I'm completely absorbed in a story, I found myself compelled to pick up the second book in the trilogy after thoroughly enjoying the first. I can't wait to get my hands on the third installment!
  • I absolutely adored it! I devoured this book years ago and recently completed the audio version. Being a fan of Nora's writing, I must admit that 'Black Rose' is truly one of her finest works. The entire series is absolutely splendid! The narration was top-notch and perfectly complemented the compelling story. If you're a fan of captivating romance with a touch of mystery, then I wholeheartedly suggest giving this a listen.
  • I've been really digging these audiobooks. The narrator kills it, seriously! She brings the story to life in a way I've never experienced before, even though I've read this book previously.
  • Nora Roberts consistently weaves captivating tales that completely immerse the reader. The characters truly came to life, enhanced by the narrator's interpretation. Such an exceptional book to dive into!
  • I'm a huge fan of this series, and out of all the books, this one is definitely my favorite. Roz's character is incredibly strong, and the performance and accents in the audiobook are absolutely fantastic.
  • I absolutely love this series! It not only entertained me, but it also sparked an interest in gardening and inspired me to invest time and effort into making my own garden flourish and look stunning.
  • This was one of the best Nora Roberts Books I had ever read. It was so suspenseful to the point that I have listened to it a number of times before I reluctently sent it back. This whole series has capitivated me I am anxiously waiting to listen to the Red Lily. I have really enjoyed this series. I would like to see a 4th book in this series to pull all 3 books together.
  • great story, but if you want to avoid bedroom scenes, this is one to avoid. I had to skip forward three times. I loved the ghost, but felt that the writer could have had more about the ghost.
  • I love Nora Roberts whether she is writing love stories or mysteries. This book was great. I listened to Blue Dallia a while ago. Did it start the same way? I thought I was listening to something I had already listened to and almost sent it back. A truly fun read.
  • I was sorry to see this book end. Nice pacing and just enough surprises. I suppose it might be judged in the same category as a "chick flit" but hey, why not? Our heroine a great role model.
