  • I'll need to delve deeper into this to see how it applies to my particular industry. It would have been helpful to have a summary that outlines the steps for implementing this process.
  • I picked up the 2017 edition of this book and the narrator mentions it's the audiobook version from 2017. After reading several chapters, I noticed that some of the words in the book didn't align with what was being said by the narrator. There were additional sentences in the audio that weren't present in the book, and the numbers and references to figures didn't match up either. Despite this, I did appreciate the concept of a blue ocean shift and the company's approach to improving it. However, from an International Business perspective, I believe there should have been a more realistic approach to how a blue ocean shift can make a company more appealing to its customers. Overall, my experience with the book wasn't great, but since it's required for my MBA graduate class and I need to write a 5-7 page report on it, I didn't have any other option but to read it from start to finish.
  • If you're someone who's dedicated to developing a winning strategy, whether in a company or as an entrepreneur, then the practical insights offered in "Blue Ocean Shift: Beyond Competing - Proven Steps to Inspire Confidence and Seize New Growth" are definitely worth your time. By combining the knowledge you and your team already possess about your company with the information from this book, you can greatly enhance your chances of achieving success. While the included PDF is useful for following along, if possible, I highly recommend getting the hardcover version too.
  • It's alright and logical, but it doesn't address the reasons for purchasing this book. The reader is more interested in understanding the "why?" and "how?" rather than just hearing about successful organizations' experiences. The focus tends to shift towards storytelling rather than teaching. If readers wanted a story, they would have chosen The Twilight novel. The positive aspect is that it does provide a step-by-step process, which is sufficient. However, it lacks depth and fails to address commonly asked questions. Instead, it pulls us into another storytelling session when what we really want is for the author to answer practical "but what if" scenarios. We crave a deeper application, not just entertainment.
  • The way these authors quote in the book does not reflect how people naturally talk, which makes the case studies questionable. It seems like everyone is trying too hard to sound like a clichéd business jargon. The constant promotion of "blue ocean experts" feels forced and unnecessary. However, despite the flawed thinking and writing, the book remains practical and useful.
  • I highly recommend reading both of these books, as they offer both philosophical insights and practical application strategies. Personally, I found that implementing the ideas from these books had an immediate positive impact on my business.
  • This book offers a clear and comprehensive approach that changes our perspective on any project. It opens up opportunities to explore untapped markets and unleash hidden potential.
  • The content of this book could easily be condensed into a concise summary of just 1-2 pages. The remaining portion seems to heavily focus on promoting their Blue Shift consulting services.
  • This book is simply riding the wave of its predecessor, offering similar but powerful insights such as the importance of assembling a strong team and prioritizing customer satisfaction. It's basically Management 101, but in a refreshingly practical and straightforward manner.
  • The Blue Ocean Strategy was an awesome read, but I must say that this book feels like a rehash with a few fresh examples. It's frustrating when authors pull this stunt, basically trying to sell you the same content twice. If they don't have anything new and exciting to bring to the table, they shouldn't bother writing a book!
