The Bodine ranch and resort in western Montana is a family business, an idyllic spot for vacationers who want to ride horses in the apple-crisp air or couples holding weddings under the wide-open sky. A little more than thirty thousand acres, it is home to four generations—and behind the scenes, Bodine Longbow does all she can to keep things running with the help of her siblings, the staff, and the new hire, Callen Skinner.

  • Nora has this amazing ability to make you genuinely care about the characters. One of the standout features of this book is that she takes this genre to new and unexplored places. I haven't read the In Death series, so I can't speak to any similarities there. But if you're into horses, tough Montana folks, and characters with a backbone, then this book is for you. I was caught off guard when I found myself yelling "Run Alice, for god's sake, run!" There was a fresh layer to the story that Nora brought, and I really appreciated it. Nora always comes out on top for me because even if the plot is just okay, I always enjoy the journey thanks to her characters. The narration was really solid, with a few minor hiccups in some of the male voices, but overall it was a fantastic performance. It's definitely worth using a credit on, especially considering the length.
  • I basically binged on 'Come Sundown', only taking a long nap to keep me going. The book delves into a challenging topic and had me shedding tears and sitting on the edge of my seat. The author, NR, masterfully created a tight-knit family and community in this narrative. However, it does include some elements that are characteristic of NR's other works, which you'll recognize if you're a fan. Overall, I enjoyed it so much that I'll definitely give it another listen, although not immediately.
  • This story was absolutely terrible. I honestly feel like I got cheated. It had all these supernatural elements like spirits, werewolves, and demons, but none of it was mentioned in the summary.
