  • It's not surprising that some reviewers struggled to separate their political views on the "war on terror" from this thrilling fiction. I faced the same challenge but still managed to appreciate the book for its gripping suspense. The ending turned out to be less predictable than I initially anticipated, keeping me on the edge of my seat. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I won't say much more than that. Aside from the terrorism aspect, I particularly enjoyed the aftermath of Nash's son getting into trouble for assaulting one of his friends. It serves as a metaphor for the main plot line of the book. This book will undoubtedly be loved by many, while a few may dislike it. However, even those who dislike it could still enjoy it if they are able to set aside their political biases and immerse themselves in the story. Personally, I would have preferred if more loose ends were tied up by the conclusion, but I suppose that's what sequels are for.
  • This audiobook is awesome to listen to. It's important for everyone, especially those who are ignorant or overly concerned, to confront the truth about the "torture" matter. Flynn's storytelling is so authentic, it surpasses the supposedly intellectual discussions happening in Capitol Hill. It takes us back to the post-9/11 atmosphere, which is a stark contrast to the pre-9/11 mentality that dominates the mainstream media nowadays. The plot feels genuine and some of the characters will remind you of people you know, which can be both relatable and exasperating.
  • I'm currently listening to the entire series of Mich Rapp, along with Term Limits, the only non-Rapp book written by Vince Flynn, for the third time. I've mentioned before that there isn't a single greatest Vince Flynn book. Each one he wrote is tied for the top spot. The reason I love this book the most is because it delves into the political use of extreme measures. It highlights the hypocrisy of influential politicians, such as the fictional Senator Barbara Lawnsdale, when it comes to this subject. It's an incredibly gripping book that's full of action and suspense, including a devastating terrorist attack that claims many lives. Towards the end of Extreme Measures, during a terrorist attack in DC, Lawnsdale's closest friend and chief of staff is killed. Senator Lawnsdale then switches sides in the argument and becomes Rapp's and the CIA's strongest supporter in Capitol Hill. George Guidall's narration is absolutely brilliant. Extreme Measures is a must-read from the Mitch Rapp series, which is already a must-read in itself.
