Summary

Struggling in his role as a newly single father, former army medic Kevin O'Brien moves home to Chesapeake Shores. He wants a haven for himself and his toddler son, surrounded by the family he knows he can count on, and a future that's nothing like his past. But Kevin is suddenly facing a risk he hadn't anticipated, in the form of Main Street bookseller Shanna Carlyle. Shanna immediately recognizes Kevin as a wounded soul - she's had way too much experience with the type. Still, this charming O'Brien man and his son are almost impossible to resist. Then, just when the barriers are toppling, someone from Shanna's past appears. Confronted with a threat to their hard-won serenity, Kevin and Shanna face their toughest challenge - learning to trust again. "Sherryl Woods always delights her readers-including me!" -#1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber

  • I've either read or listened to the 2 previous books in the Chesapeake Shores series by Sherryl Woods, and enjoyed both stories. A big part of the foundation of the books is the O'Brien family, and we see the good and the bad in this family. Unfortunately, in "Harbor Light", we see the ugly. In the previous books, the family was involved in each others' lives and played important roles, but in this book, they become a mean, insensitive meddling mess of a family. They're behavior is overwhelming and annoying, enough for one to start to really dislike these people. I'll read the next story, but if this family remains as insensitive and stupid as they were portrayed in "Harbor Lights", I've giving up on this series and maybe Sherryl Woods as well.
