Summary

A STANDALONE NOVEL that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book. From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a friends-to-lovers story with sexy new characters. After getting dumped, the last thing I needed was to move next door to someone who reminded me of my ex-boyfriend, Elec. Damien was a hotter version of my ex. The neighbor I'd dubbed "Angry Artist" also had two massive dogs that kept me up with their barking. He wanted nothing to do with me. Or so I thought until one night I heard laughter coming through an apparent hole in my bedroom wall. Damien had been listening to all of my phone sessions with my therapist. The sexy artist next door now knew all of my deepest secrets and insecurities. We got to talking. He set me straight with tips to get over my breakup. He became a good friend, but Damien made it clear that he couldn't be anything more. Problem was, I was falling hard for him anyway. And as much as he pushed me away, I knew he felt the same...because his heartbeat didn't lie. I thought my heart had been broken by Elec, but it was alive and beating harder than ever for Damien. I just hoped he wouldn't shatter it for good. Author's note - Neighbor Dearest is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

  • The book Neighbor Dearest is absolutely incredible. It delivers a powerful message about the importance of patience and love in both good times and bad. Damien, the main character, is an absolute sweetheart who embodies strength and unintentional romance. Without a doubt, this book deserves a stellar rating of five out of five stars.
  • I can't even begin to describe how effortlessly this book earned a solid five stars from me. Seriously, it was mind-blowingly awesome. Trust me when I say you need to get your hands on this book ASAP. It's the kind of story that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, leaving you with moments where you'll be like, "OMG, Penelope Ward nailed it!"
  • I practically devoured this book in one go, starting from late Friday night all the way to Saturday afternoon. The intense connection between the two main characters was absolutely electrifying, you could feel the sexual tension in the air. One thing I particularly appreciated was how it set the stage for a potential sequel involving the supporting characters, and you can bet I'd be all over that!
  • I've gone through more than a hundred books in the past four months and out of all of them, I'd have to say that 'Neighbor Dearest' is one of the most prolonged ones. It feels like an endlessly long conversation with a lot of unnecessary back-and-forth, like it's simply filling up time. I'm really into books, but this one is honestly quite dull. It might be suitable if you're just looking for some background noise to help you fall asleep.
  • This one was a struggle to push through. It had an overly cheesy vibe that almost became too much. I'm a big fan of books by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, so I was really hoping this one would live up to their usual standards. Sadly, it fell short.
  • I absolutely adored 'Neighbor Dearest'. The way Damien looked out for Chelsey was simply amazing. There's just something incredibly heartwarming about a guy who's fiercely protective and maybe a little possessive. Trust me, this book is an absolute must-read!
  • After thoroughly enjoying Stepbrother Dearest, I eagerly delved into Neighbor Dearest, craving more of Ms. Ward's writing. And let me tell you, she absolutely nailed it! This book had its fair share of ups, downs, and unexpected twists that kept me hooked from start to finish. Once you cracked open the pages, there was no turning back - you were committed till the end. The story brims with tension, desire, and heartache as Chelsea struggles to move on from Elec's decision. It's clear that she's in for a wild ride. But amidst all the emotional turmoil, what really stood out for me was the humor and the delightfully inappropriate moments that had me laughing out loud. The author's clever references to movies I adored in my childhood kept a smirk on my face until the very last page! The narrator did a fantastic job of keeping me engaged and entertained throughout the audiobook. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more of their work in the future.
  • I absolutely loved the plot and the characters in this audiobook! The emotional journey of Damian and Chelsea was so captivating, and the narration was top-notch as well. I highly recommend it!
  • I had actually read Stepbrother Dearest before giving this audiobook a listen. It's still my top favorite, but this one is definitely up there as well. Neighbor Dearest revolves around Chelsea, who used to be Elec's girlfriend. After moving out of their old apartment, she finds herself living next to Damian, a grumpy artist with loud dogs. The first half of the story focuses on their transition from irritating neighbors to good friends. However, the second half dives into their tumultuous relationship until a final decision is reached. This audiobook offers a mix of humor, passionate moments, romantic turmoil, and steamy scenes with an assertive and provocative partner. Interestingly, Elec also makes an appearance in this story. Personally, I really enjoyed the ending and the epilogue. It would have been even better if there were dual points of view, but overall Ms. Cook did a commendable job. As one of my favorite authors, I certainly felt that using a credit for this audiobook was well worth it.
