I had high expectations for this audiobook, since a physicist friend who I admire recommended it to me. However, I initially found the writing tone off-putting in the first few chapters. Despite that, as I continued to listen, I gradually became convinced of the accuracy and truth in Deutsch's explanations. This audiobook delves into philosophy, with some insights from physics. It carries significant importance, and I wish more people shared the author's beliefs. Deutsch demonstrates great care in his definitions and approaches his arguments with logical rigor. After taking a break from the book, I plan to revisit it, most likely in written form rather than audio. Having said that, the concepts presented in The Beginning of Infinity would have a greater impact if the author's tone was less distant, snobbish, and dismissive towards, well, almost everyone. If you're the kind of person who can look past the initial negative impression and appreciate the profound ideas about the nature of knowledge, genuine progress, and embracing a mindset of optimism despite our inherent flaws, then I urge you to give this book a chance. With that caveat, I wholeheartedly recommend it. By embracing these ideas, there are no boundaries to what we can accomplish.
