  • This book is like a lot of other nutrition books that claim to debunk the old scientific beliefs. The author tries to sound smart by talking about complex processes, but it's clear that they don't fully understand the subject matter. The argument that because the book was successful 20 years ago, everyone should have known about it and the obesity epidemic shouldn't be as bad is weak. Overall, this book does more harm than good. I wouldn't recommend buying it and if you already did, I suggest returning it.
  • The author of this book seems to be skilled at presenting misleading information, either due to their own bias or intentional deception to push their agenda. The book is a prime example of selectively omitting important facts and using straw man arguments. It's quite disappointing and not worth purchasing.
  • Oh man, listening to this book was such a drag. Like, seriously painful. The author spends like a whole hour just talking about themselves and their beliefs. I mean, come on! With a title like "The China Study," you'd expect some solid facts and juicy details about what they actually found in the study, right? But nope. Instead, it's just a whole lot of fear-mongering that makes it super tough to keep on listening. And by the way, let's not get it twisted here. It's just not cool to say that animal proteins are straight-up bad for us. I mean, yeah, sure, eating too much of them and chowing down on known carcinogens could potentially increase your risk of cancer... but that doesn't mean all animal proteins are automatically gonna give you the Big C. Just sayin'.
  • The findings presented in The China Study are no longer relevant. After reading the first chapter, I immediately decided to abandon it. Instead, I recommend checking out any of Dr. Jason Fung's books. Don't bother investing your time and money in this one.
  • I want to express my gratitude for the incredibly valuable and proven information provided in this book. Before even listening to it, I had already taken many of the steps you described on my own. I have high blood pressure, slightly elevated cholesterol levels, and developed osteoarthritis. However, after voluntarily changing my diet to align with the principles outlined in this book, I've witnessed remarkable improvements. My cholesterol is now within the normal range, my blood pressure is gradually decreasing (although not yet at a normal level), and I've even been able to reduce the dosage of my blood pressure medication. Furthermore, my osteoarthritis is not progressing as rapidly as it did before adopting this diet. As a 59-year-old Hispanic woman, standing at 5'3", I have consistently weighed around 135 pounds. However, since making these dietary changes, I have successfully reached a weight of 125 pounds and both look and feel better than ever. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the author and collaborators for offering us alternative ways to live a healthier life. Carmen Lopez
  • I wouldn't really recommend this audiobook. It tends to be quite repetitive, which can get tiresome. The author seems to hold the belief that all scientists, except themselves, lack intelligence. Additionally, the audiobook makes some very bold claims, but they're mostly supported by weak data.
  • This book did not go over well with me. The information feels incredibly outdated. It doesn't really delve into the science of nutrition, but instead focuses on criticizing the Western diet in comparison to the Eastern diet, the flaws of the US food industry, and the shortcomings of the US medical industry. It also seems to indirectly promote veganism. Essentially, the book's message boils down to eating fewer or no animal products and consuming more vegetables for optimal health.

The level of detail provided in this book is absolutely fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed diving into the wealth of information it offers. It's truly eye-opening to see how easily we can be deceived when it comes to nutrition. It's disheartening that despite having the freedom to choose, we are still struggling to raise awareness about the importance of improving everyone's health in America. It's up to individuals to take charge and make their own discoveries. I hope to educate my family and share this knowledge with my friends as we embark on this transformative journey together.
