I couldn't quite grasp the direction this book was heading in, and it failed to hold my interest throughout. Perhaps, the abundance of characters introduced within a short span of time was the culprit. I regret using my credit on this book; it simply didn't captivate me or allow me to follow the plot effectively.
Don't get your hopes up if you're hoping for another "State of Wonder" or "Bel Canto". The narration and writing are still top-notch, but it feels like the author may have lost her touch (or her interest) in fully immersing the reader in a distant world. Sadly, this book falls into the realm of the ordinary.
